Also The Red Feather Club has been Open on the first & last Sunday of each month from June until the last Sunday in October, they have proved to be very popular with many visitors attending for the first time, due to our Advertising and website, Thank You Frank Sherman & Norman Feltwell.
The Grand Open Day weekend was an outstanding success, we where blessed with Glorious sunshine, with some 1500 visitors attending, many stall holders attended especially from other Bomb Group Associations, a US Guard of Honour from Mildenhall, Janie McKnight the 95th Bomb Group Legacy President gave the address, Andrew Castleden kindly gave the response our US guests also included Grace & Ernie Hammesfahr & Russ Askey.
Later in the day the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster and Hurricane gave a spectacular flypast over the main runway, £300 was collected on the runway and donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund, a service was held at St Mary’s church Horham afterwards, a wreath was laid on the 95th Bomb Group memorial adjacent to the church, Thank You to Reverend David Streeter.
An official memorial was dedicated to the 95th Bomb Group in The Red Feather Club, John carefully painted this, and it is a permanent testament to Brave Young Men who were stationed at this base.
