42-97376 B17-G

This aircraft was originally assigned to the 412th BS 95th BG Horham 7/4/1944, named “ AUNT CALLIE’S BABY”.
It’s first operational sortie was 20/4/1944 piloted by L.C. McReynolds.

Transferred to the 335th BS, 17/10/1944. being named “She Fox”.and later “Lucky Lady”

As “She Fox”, piloted by Stacy Tavis, it was involved in a mid-air collision with 42-102450, 3/3/1945 suffering severe damage to the left wing. (see next page). This resulted in a forced landing at RAF Manston, Kent .The aircraft was repaired and returned to duties 19/3/1945.
It seems likely that this incident caused the renaming to “Lucky Lady” by Glen T. Purday.

Returning to the U.S.A. it was abandoned at Goose Bay, Labrador, 26/6/1945, due to engine failure.
It was sent to Bradley Field for scrapping 20/12/1945.
